Wow, that's ambitious! Jake tried to get me to read the first book in the series, which I have yet to do. I am not the best person for book clubs or book challenges, so I most likely will no participate. Best of luck though! Sounds like an awesome challenge! :D

Ms. on Thursday, October 22, 2009 2:58:00 PM said...

YES! I wanted to re-read these before the new one, so this is the motivation I needed! I've never participated in an online book club, so thats a first for me too. Now I just have to beg and borrow copies of the books...

So I don't know how eligible I am for giveaways, but I'll join the "book club" I think.

For other sources chack out the 13th depository and the WOT Faq and WOT encyclopedia. Great collections of the finer details.

Will find great insights to add to the reread. Might also suggest breaking the books up into smaller chunks - there is so much material in each book - waiting until the end might be too much to reflect on the intricate details. Perhaps breaking into themes or characters for discussion threads will help discussions.

TJ on Tuesday, December 08, 2009 10:00:00 AM said...

@Reep: Excellent suggestions, of course! I do plan to make use of the Tor re-read threads, but didn't know abotu the FAQ or Encyclopedia.

I don't feel comfortable breaking the books up, because that would require people--who may not have the time--to read the books faster than they're able and make this stressful for them. However, I think that the format of the discussion posts will help jog everyone's memory and promote discussion. You'll have to give me feedback on if I accomplish that in January. :)

@Jeff: Of course you can still join in on the fun! In fact, The Eye of the World discussion is still going on, if you care to join in. ;) You're on the list!

Hey so I know I am being a pain but is their anyway to change the e-mail on the list? I just got a new e-mail that I think is far more fitting
If I could change it to fishe111@dragonmount.com that would be awesome. If not let me know

@fishe111: It's not a problem at all! I'll switch it just as soon as I get home. :)

Thanks TJ! Since I posted I finished TGH and started TDR. I'm so excited about getting through the series again, probably because I know what's about to happen in each book, and I'm reading it very quickly.

@Loki & Don: No one's too late, of course! You've both been added. Our discussion of The Great Hunt was only just posed, so feel free to join in the discussion. Otherwise, I'll see you both for March's discussion of The Dragon Reborn!
